The lowdown on screen printing tshirts

Custom screen printing is one of the most popular methods to use when printing posters, labels, designs on clothing and many other products. Due to the ability to print on a wide variety of materials, it is also one of the most versatile methods of printing. The ability to print on materials of various shapes, thickness and size also makes screen printing a preferred printing process. One of the most prominent uses is for screen printing tshirts.

T-shirt screen printing production has improved over the years with the introduction of better equipment and smarter processes. The basic idea of screen printing involves using a mesh screen with the image stenciled on the screen. The mesh is pulled tightly over a wood or metal frame and ink is applied to the top of the screen, then forced through the open areas of the mesh, forming an image on the material intended to be printed. Once the printing is completed, the product is sent through a drying system.

Due to the improvements that have been made to screen printing, shirts can be easily printed in mass amounts, making it easy for your team, organization, or other group to have logos, names and other designs printed for your special event.

Screen printing shirts and caring for them

Once your design has been applied and you're ready to go, you may want to know how to keep your tees and other screen printed clothing looking its best. While fading is sure to occur over time, following these tips may hold it at bay for many washings:

  • Wash and dry garments inside out
  • Wash with mild detergent
  • If possible, air dry
  • If using a dryer, dry on lowest settings
  • Do not iron directly on screen printing; shirts may endure faster fading

Following the general care instructions on your garments is usually the rule of thumb, but if you wish to preserve your screen printed image longer, it may take a little more care and consideration. It is always a good idea, before screen printing tshirts or any other garment, to clarify with your printer how long the image will keep its full color. We also have custom embroidery services as well for your occasion if screen printing is not an option.
